While commenting on pages is a nice social feature that is available in modern SharePoint Online sites, some companies may want to disable this feature. At the page level, this can be done in edit mode by toggling comments off and on via the below:
However, doing this at the page level is tedious and can result in some pages being missed and/or inconsistencies from one site to another. If you are looking to do this globally, however, there is a much easier solution.
- Navigate to the SharePoint Admin Center
- Go to Settings in the navigation menu
- Select Pages setting
- Uncheck Allow commenting on modern pages
